PRESS RELEASE For immediate distribution Grand
Prix de Trois-Rivières to host La Série ACT, thanks to Festidrag.TV Daytona Beach,
February 18th 2018 – Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières
(GP3R) is proud to announce that it will add a second stock-car racing series
to its programming thanks to a
partnership with Festidrag.TV. La Série ACT, the canadian division of the
American Canadian Tour (ACT) will race in the streets of Trois-Rivières on
August 12th in a 100km (41 laps) contest that will be part of its official
series’ calendar. The drivers
of the popular stock-car racing series will test their mettle at turning left
AND right in the first road course race of La Série ACT’s history. Their
American counterparts who compete in the ACT Late Model Tour will be welcome to
join the road-racing fever as no race is scheduled to their series’ calendar
for this date. “ We are
excited to add a second stock-car series to our road racing weekend as it was
hotly demanded by our fans and our board of directors, said Dominic Fugère,
general manager of GP3R. We are convinced that the ACT tenors, who are well
known by the Quebec public, will give a tremendous spectacle to those who will
come out and see them race on August 11th and 12th. We have been in talks for a few years with
the late Tom Curley, president and founder of ACT and it is a great pleasure to
have come to terms with his successor Marc-Patrick Roy and the president and
producer of Festidrag.TV Martin D’Anjou. “ The
addition of the Série ACT to the portfolio of racing at the GP3R is possible
thanks to the collaboration of Festidrag.TV, which will be in charge of the
commercialisation of this initiative and of Marc-Patrick Roy, président of
Série ACT, who will be responsible for the sporting organization. Martin
D’Anjou, president and producer of Festidrag.TV, is proud to contribute to this
important addition to the GP3R’s programming that will be shown on RDS2 and
TéléMag television networks. “ 2018 will
mark the fifth season of Festidrag.TV which is positioning itself as THE
televised rendez-vous for motorsports fans in Quebec. This partnership
demonstrates the collaborative efforts behind our business. If strength is
created through unity, this will be a strong, memorable event,” said Mr.
D’Anjou. The
addition of a street race at the GP3R will reinforce the value of La Série ACT
as a development platform. Its 2014 champion Alex Labbé is showing how the
series can be a strong path towards profesionnal stock-car racing. Labbé
parlayed his ACT championship into a NASCAR Pinty’s ride and, ultimately, 2017.
He has now graduated to a full-time ride in the NASCAR XFinity series which
began yesterday with a strong debut showing at the Daytona International
Speedway. This new
race in the streets of Trois-Rivières is also part of a broader trend towards
more road racing as shown by the introduction of a race on the new Charlotte
Motor Speedway Roval in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup And NASCAR XFinity
Series. Marc-Patrick
Roy, president of La Série ACT, is pleased to see his drivers being able to
race in fron the the extensive crowds of the GP3R, a mythical event in
motorsports which marks its 49th running in 2018. « Even
though our drivers are circle track specialists, many of them have already ran
road courses, be it in karting, in stock cars or in other forms of auto
racing. Patrick Laperle, Dany Trépanier,
Jean-François Déry, Donald Theetge, Pierre-Luc Ouellette, Simon Roussin, Éric
Gagnon and even the seasoned veteran Claude Leclerc have all turned right in
the past » explained Roy. This Série ACT event, presented by Festidrag.TV, will be run on the
Trois-Rivières street track August 11th and 12th, with the 100 km (41 laps)
feature to be ran at the end of Sunday’s schedule, marking the close of the
49th running of the GP3R. -30- Informations : Fannie Brouillette Director – Sales and marketing, GP3R 819 370-4787, p. 222 On the attached photo : Marc-Patrick Roy,
